There were four preliminary competitions, one in each area to determine the top eight Under 10 teams, who would compete at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.

In total, 34 different junior cricket clubs across the County took part in the competition, the eight that were welcomed to Hove were; Chippindale CC, Chichester Priory Park CC, Laughton CC, Lindfield CC, Pevensey CC, St Matthias CC, Three Bridges CC & West Chiltington & Thakeham CC.

With beautiful sunshine at Hove, the 150 on looking supporters enjoyed some exciting pairs cricket, with plenty of boundaries, clever bowling, athletic fielding & spectacular catches.

It was an all East Area final, with Laughton CC & Pevensey CC facing off for the Gilbert Cup. In a tight game, it was Pevensey who prevailed and took the title home.

Paul Baker of Chippingdale CC said “Many, many thanks to the Sussex Cricket for hosting this competition, we’re are so glad we took part. Some good learnings and magic moments, which is what cricket at this age is all about.”

EDUCATION: No Boundaries Project

No Boundaries is a Sussex cricket Foundation employability initiative designed to support Sussex job seekers back into work.

We were lucky enough to be joined last month by Sian Morse, Sales Manager for Centreplate UK, based at The 1st Central County Ground.

Noboundaries
12 No Boundaries Learners attended an interactive and informative careers talk based around the theme of careers within
sales within the Hospitality & Events Sector.

The session was part of a two week employability course helping learners gain skills and qualifications to help them move closer to work.

Our programmes in the community aim to create better futures for all and we are very grateful to Centreplate for supporting this programme.

The learners thoroughly enjoyed the session and gained a real insight into future careers within the Hospitality and Catering sector.
