The Sussex Cricket Foundation are expanding their Young Leaders in Cricket Programme across the County in 2018. This exciting initiative, run in partnership with the ECB, will be made available to young players at clubs & secondary school pupils aged between 14-16.
The programme is comprised of six face to face/web modules including Leadership, Team Building, First Aid, Officiating & Scoring, Groundsmanship and Fundraising and will give students a chance to learn about the different roles available in cricket and sport. Unlike other courses students are asked to raise half of the course fee by fundraising at their local club or school, or in the local community.
This programme has run successfully in clubs for the past two years where 84 leaders have successfully completed the programme which concludes with a presentation at Lord’s. The Sussex Cricket Foundation would now like to pilot the programme in a handful of schools as well as clubs in 2018.
Gary Wallis-Tayler, who leads the project, said: “This programme is a fantastic way of learning about different roles that are available not only in cricket but in sport in general. The opportunity to fundraise & volunteer through the programme will hopefully help students decide on their future career pathway”.
If schools and clubs would like to register their interest in the programme please contact Gary Wallis-Tayler on email@example.com or for further information on the programme please visit the website https://www.clubpay.co.uk/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=207
