Training for Club Welfare Officers (CWOs) has two elements, both of which involve an evening training workshop.
Firstly, CWOs need to attend Safeguarding and Protecting Children, which provides core knowledge around generic safeguarding/welfare issues.
Following this, the Safe Hands Workshop is cricket specific and provides full details of the ECB’s Safe Hands policy and requirements for clubs.
Combined, these workshops provide a training pack to enable club welfare officers to acquire the core knowledge and develop their skills in order to fulfil their role and responsibilities.
PLEASE NOTE CANDIDATES THAT HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED CWO TRAINING IN THE PAST CANNOT ATTEND THIS COURSE THEY MUST ATTEND THE REFRESHER TRAINING (SEE BELOW).
Training has also been arranged for EXISTING CWOs which is a 2-hour refresher course and can ONLY be attended by CWOs who need to renew their certificates. This course will run at Sussex County Cricket Club. Existing CWOs now DO NOT need to attend an SPC course as part of CWO refresher training.
A trained CWO is a requirement for Clubmark accreditation and for all adult league clubs.
