The Sussex Cricket Foundation has officially launched the new Learning Centre, developed in association with Santander, at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove.
The recent launch event was attended by Her Worship Madam Mayor and various stakeholders from the further education and business sectors, and local authorities including representative from East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Sussex stars Chris Nash and Tymal Mills were also on hand to support the event.
The launch of the new learning centre marks a significant development for Sussex Cricket. The Learning Centre is situated at the heart of the club and signifies the importance of the Sussex Cricket Foundation’s community provision.
Vanessa Potter, Education, Employability and Skills Manager presented the Sussex Cricket Foundation Education, Employability and Skills Agenda, detailing plans for provision across the county, and said, “2016 will be an exciting year for the Sussex Cricket Foundation. The launch is just the start of an exciting new education offering serving to Sussex residents.
“We will be working closely with Local Enterprise partnerships to ensure our provision is aligned with Local Skills Priorities and will soon be announcing our 2016/17 prospectus that will include 14-19 programmes, 19+ employability programmes and Traineeships alongside a suite of employer and business focussed services and activities.”
In 2015, The Sussex Cricket Foundation supported over 12,500 young people, worked with 7,000 volunteers and 100 unemployed adults.
The SCF are committed to supporting residents across Sussex through offering Education and Skills, and also are fully supportive of the Skills East Sussex thematic priorities, believing that with close ties with 245 Cricket Clubs across Sussex we can have significant reach and impact on residents within Sussex.
There is also a commitment to supporting the Brighton and Hove City Employment and Skills Plan key priorities through the development of the new county-wide Education, Employability and Skills Agenda.
